Kaian Sumeragi (皇 開庵, Sumeragi Kaian) was Kaito's grandfather. He was the head of the Sumeragi clan and was responsible for bringing the Kagami clan away from isolation. He was also the one who brings his grandson to the Kagami clan to train his skills and it is where he met the youngest member of the clan Kyousuke.
